Quilts galore at the second annual 'Airing of the Quilts'

The encourage annual “Airing of the Quilts” festival was held on Saturday in downtown Franklin and all throughout Macon County.The burgh was clad in a myriad of bright colors amid the springtime sun, as more than 400 quilts were hung out for show off by businesses and locals for the Mother’s Day weekend event, which proved to be bigger this year than last.“It was wonderful,” said event organizer and Macon County Quilt Trails Chairman Deb Heatherly. “We are getting all sorts of esteemed feedback. People want to see it again next year.” According to Heatherly, visitors from twelve states (Fla., Ga., N.C., N.J., Calif., Ala., Groupie., Tenn., S.C., Va., Ky., Mich.) and as far as Germany and Switzerland were found to be present at the event. In to be sure, this year’s event saw an increased turnout over last year, according to Line Street Program Director Linda Schlott.
